Some down time with Cookie

I know you have been missing Cookie, I have too. My family has been super busy since November it seems they havent stopped. Thankfully Winter is almost upon us here in the land of OZ and if you know my Mum, you'll know she relishes in a good hibernation! The cold season really only hits us here on the eastern coast (Nthn NSW) for about 3 months- just enough time for us to snuggle down and stay home.
I will post soon and show off my new coat and tell you a little about Pede (still going stong at 14 and a half) and fill you in on what else has been happening, but for now,, enjoy a few pics of Cookie and I.

Almost 2...yes she has had a few haircuts already!
Shes my little sister...
 ..
And Ill always look after her.

Almost forgot to tell you, my cousin Rocksta is coming in 2 days time to stay for a week whild his Mum and Dad go on holidays...just WAIT till you see how BIG he is!

                                                                         I missed you guys....

If I had to choose

If I had to choose one colour what colour would I be?
A thought provoking question...
So much riding on this one.
See? My puppy brain turned to mush.  I consider the seriousness of such gibber numerous times a day and this morning, settled on the floor amongst the meticulously arranged(OK, scatted) Cheerios's, I wondered if Cookie might notice if I flicked the channel on the TV over to the morning news.
Bad move.
She flipped her lid and threw a (plastic) spoon at my head.
Now, I didn't flinch, I'm tough and I know staying in this abusive relationship is necessary and no action I can take will benefit me, plus, as sick as it sounds, I like the attention.
My Cookie is 18 months old now and she hurls random objects at me frequently, however, I'm also lunged upon with delightfully full contact cuddles, in equal measure.
Yes, I love her still, more and more every day in fact.
I will watch Playschool and those edible looking Teletubbies for as long as she wants to snuggle with me.
Mum says my 3rd birthday is approaching, which for a giant breed equates roughly to Mum and I being the same age and although still kids at heart, we prefer a little culture and current affairs to ghastly bright toddler toones 24/7.
But back to to choosing my 'colour'....
Defiantly 'highlighter' yellow. You can't miss me. Here I am!

So I said to my Mum....

So tonight I asked Mum, who is my family?
I think we figured out together that family are not only your blood relatives but the people around you who make your life better, the people (or dogs, sorry) who you couldn't be without.
Rocksta my Cousin came over for dinner along with his Mumma Aunty Jadie and my Uncle Johnny was here too.
My family are an interesting bunch and they are fun, very honest and I treasure them all.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Dear Uncle Pete,
I'm guessing you have read about my wonderfully competent babysitting adventures. But let me tell you straight up....no.
I'm done.
He's cute old mate, but once I'm finished my coffee I'm out of here.
Geez!

They say you can't pick your family....

Funny things happen on Fridays

Like this.

Just to cheer me up and cheer me on

I had been having a bad day, putting up with Pede's dramaz, Mum busy as always, now shes getting ready for a big party this weekend, there is a bright side for me though, my cousins are coming over to play...I'll fill you in on this later, but a friend sent me this funny but tasteless Doggy Dancing. And it totally had me BOL all afternoon;) Enjoy, but don't hold me responsible...i didn't MAKE you click on the link.

Not really Wordless Wednesday

Here's the heads up. You can tell when Mum is really busy when we only show our gorgeous face on (silent)Sunday and (wordless)Wednesday. How embarrassing.
Anyway, Ive been spending my mornings when ever Mum is at work playing this game with Pede...
Lets just call it "Don't sit there."
I don't really enjoy this game, Pede made it up and you know she's getting on now and if I have never said it before, you know, out of being respectful toward the elderly and all that, well, i will say it now...
Pede, your a bitch!
Don't laugh. Yes, anatomically speaking, she is a bitch. But let me tell you this old girl has a nasty streak you're all unaware of.
I try to have a chat with her and she's tells me in her charming old lady voice to F OFF! I try to sit down near her and the same thing happens. I hope Mum is reading this and puts Pede in the naughty corner for a while...

P.S the photo takes me back to a happier time, the day I met Dad:)

Hi Guys, yes I read Major's blog.
We think our Pedegirl  might have dog dementia? Anyone else ever experienced this? xxx Major's Mum

Baby Brutus

Brutus Oh my marvellous little friend, I am sorry for the week that I have bestowed upon you my buddy.
You have been such a good sport.
I hope you will accept this apology and move on to greener pastures with the knowledge that if there were a degree in babysitting, you would have your Masters little guy!
Just a quick glimpse of our week together, more photos to follow. I hope your Mum is not too horrified!

In my next life

I will not be a mother with 4 little people.
I will stay a male thank you very much.
The things I have witnessed this week have been DIS-GUS-TING!

So the past week has been hugely busy and my responsibilities as Mum's right hand guy have really been taken to a new level.
Babysitting.
There, I said it.
And  you know what? I Don't feel emasculated. Not one bit. I feel tired and overworked, but no less the great big hunk of man(dog) that I am.

So Mum goes away for a week and leaves me in charge of baby Cookie. Remember her? So lets just say Dad's not around either (humour me people) and Primary Care giver duty is left in my (not so)capable paws.

Before I even entertain the idea that PANIC should set in, I do what any responsible babysitter would do...call for backup!
Welcome my buddy BRUTUS!
Welcome to a week of caring for a poop machine.
xxx So much more, and photos galore to follow...

Much needed comfort

If Major were a medicine,
I'd buy share in the company.

My Great Dane is a healer. Not in a hippy dippy kinda way. This boy has helped to ease the hurt of loosing a friend. He's made me laugh when I felt laughing was impossible and he continues to keep me smiling through painful memories.
Of course my children are great healers too. Now the eldest can say the right thing and comfort me with a hug but Maj is they only one who doesn't need me to explain myself. He is happy to stay by my side, and leech along wherever I am going.

Soon a year will have passed since I lost Braise to kidney disease.
My little family and I are preparing his flower garden ready for the day.
I wonder if my boys ever met how they would have got along...
