last day

Saying goodbye to my baby boy was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life.
The two years that Braise was with our family will be cherished and remebered by us all.
My almost 7 year old daughter has had a hard time letting go of her big friend and I feel shes gained a maturity above and beyond what I had at such a young age. Her little sisters are talking about him like he's still here, so time will tell, but I hope they will remeber our boisterious boy.
My husband suprised me with his raw emotion over our loss. Since being pregnant, he has formed a close bond with Braisey, taking him out and about and playing rough and tumble games. I know hes so saddend also.
And lastly our dear old Pede who we intended to play big sister , but her role developed into much more of a mother figure in Braise's life. You can see in the photos how worried she was. Shes slept inside ever since we lost our boy and is close by to us all, all the time.
Ill update again when baby arrives, but for now all I can say is our home feels very small. xx

From a friend

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Trying to be positive

But its so hard.
I much prefer when Briase is voicing his blog and not me and Im praying he will again, but...
At the moment he has a kidney infection. The vet has called to tell me that we will have more results by friday and all we can do for him is keep his fluids up and give him high doses of antibiotics.

Braise isnt eating

Since Thursday we have been keeping a close eye on our beautiful boy who is hardly eating and seems to be losing weight rather rapidly. He's still drinking plenty from his water bowl and his nose is still slightly damp.
He's a fussy eater usually, but I'm concerned now as he's showing no interest in his regular mash, biscuits, chicken or even smackos.
Today for example he has had two biscuit bones, and a piece of bacon, usually reserved for a sunday morning treat. Ive had to hand feed these to him, talking him through it and cuddling him at the same time while he stays on his bed.
The Hubby and kids came home from shopping today and Braise didnt look twice, or leave his bed and he barely lifted his head. Hes also shivering alot even though his bed has been in the sun all day. Safe to say Im worried.
He will visit our favourite vet tomorrow, so ill keep you posted. If there are any Dane owners with advice, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks x
*Weve got an a appointment at 3.30 this afternoon* (fingers crossed) here a a few more of his symptoms
~Pale gums, dry heaving, shedding hair alot, shivering, eyes seem extra gooey a bit yellow and slightly sunken, totally lethargic. But my baby boy wagged his tail a little when I wnet out to poor water in his mouth just then...x
~Blood taken... results to follow tomorrow...

Much better

My sisters looking a whole lot better than last week, don't you think?
After two separate visits to the vet (thankyou Dr Sam) Ive been told she had punctured the side of her gum (inside) on a stick or perhaps a piece of random wire!? and shes had been lucky to get away with such a minor injury.

Pede had been bright and cheerful as ever but Mum noticed that when the side of her face had swollen up to the size of a football, she yelped a little when trying to scat ch it, it was obvious she had to get back in to see the doc.

The vet examined princess Pede and decided to sedate her and jam a huge ass pair of tweezers into her gum to try to retrieve any foreign ob jet, but nothing was found. Now as horrific and gruesome as this sounds Mum reassured me that it had to be done so the kind vet could pay for his next holiday. Only joking (sort of).
Mum told me she watched the whole operation and felt her dream from when she was a seven years old(to become a vet!) was satisfied. Thank god that never happed, who knows what kind of sharpies she'd be prodding me with.
No, I'm happy my Mumma cooks for me and makes little people for me and Pede to play with!

Oprah loves us too

Well, I haven't met her personally, although in these later weeks (of pregnancy-Mums,of course) I have been growing rather fond of Aunty Opy...which led Mum to have a look at her website and guess what we came across? A special dane who holds the record of The World's Tallest Dog.
Gibson isn't your average 5-year-old. He holds the Guinness record as the world's biggest dog! When measured in 2004, this Great Dane was 42 inches from his paws to his shoulders…but his owner, Sandy, says he's grown over an inch since then!

When Gibson is on his hind legs, he's 7'2"—that's an inch taller than NBA all-star Shaquille O'Neal.

Gibson's life isn't only about being in the spotlight. He knows the importance of giving back, so he volunteers as a licensed therapy dog. "His job is just to go around and make people happy and smile," his Mum Sandy says.

Ive been Tagged

Nothing to do with the tea bag tag incident that occurred tragically last year...lets forget it ok?
But my super cool Dad Nitro is playing a game of Tag, Im going to go get a few of my friends...
Heres how to play
* Open the folder that contains photos.
* Select any photo in that folder that you haven’t posted previously.
* Post that photo along with the story behind it on your blog.
* Then tag 5 friends.

So here is a moment for my Mum to brag and gush...
It doesnt take to much thought to find words to describe my boy Braisey. Thats not just cause Im a chatterbox at heart, but because he is a huge part of my life.
We have an ever expanding family and I guess at times it might be a little hard to find youre place amongst the crowd. But you know what? I have never in my life come across a creature as loyal, patient, forgiving , trusting, did i say loyal? as my Braise.
Every morning I step outside to take his jacket off, give him a little scratch and more often than not a kiss and cuddle, move his bed closer to the warm suns rays and....I swear in return, its just like stepping foot outside youre backdoor to be greeted by youre number one fan. Sparkling eyes, tongue hanging outa their mouth, stepping side to side with anxiety and just desperately trying to get as close as possible to you. Its a kinda magic - that QUEEN could never know.
Anyway, I guess the short of it is no matter how exhausted my beautiful young family leave me, at the end of the day, I'll spend the brief moment I have reserved especially for my boy, sitting on his bed saying goodnight and will leave energised, knowing tomorrow i'll again feel like a superstar when i step outside my back door.
Thank you Braise, the stars in youre eyes say it all. X I love you too.

Anyways heres whom were going to tag.
